Colleague Spotlight Sayli

How far would you follow your career? For intern Sayli, her career aspirations in statistics led her from a master’s degree at Mumbai University in India, to a PhD program at the University of Nebraska in the U.S. Now as an intern with the Biometrics Department within R&D at Kalamazoo, Michigan, Sayli is helping VMRD take an ever-closer look at evaluating efficacy in heartworm studies, conducting analysis to determine the safety and efficacy of different medications.

“The team I’m working in believes in being statistically correct and is comfortable telling other members that this is the best we could do with the data available or even that there isn’t enough to draw a conclusion. This makes me proud of the work I produce, and I also feel more comfortable asking questions.”

Working in a very technical field, Sayli noted that accuracy and curiosity can easily be overshadowed by the need to produce results. Throughout her time at Zoetis however, Sayli has been pleasantly surprised by the constant support and counsel of her department.
